Serial became the first podcast to win a Peabody and has since been downloaded 420 million times, making it the most listened-to podcast in the history of the form. A decade later, on the show’s tenth anniversary, Sarah Koenig joined us in London for an exclusive in-person conversation as part of The International Women’s Podcast Festival 2024 in partnership with Spotify.

Held at Southbank’s Centre, Royal Festival Hall this event lifted the lid on the making of Serial.

Sarah Koenig is the host and co-creator of the award-winning podcast Serial.

Launched in 2014, Serial is credited with bringing mainstream attention to the podcast format. In 2015 Koenig was named one of Time Magazine’s “The 100 Most Influential People.”

In March 2017 Serial Productions released the Peabody Award-winning S-Town, a 7-part non-fiction podcast hosted by Brian Reed. In 2022 they released The Trojan Horse Affair, also hosted by Brian Reed. In July 2020, Serial Productions was purchased by the New York Times Company.

In 2023 Serial released the critically acclaimed podcast The Retrievals, a five-part series exploring the shocking events that unfolded at a fertility clinic at Yale.

March 28th 2024 saw Serial’s most recent season dedicated to telling the history of Guantanamo Bay through the stories of those on the ground.
