Alice Lloyd
Alice Lloyd is Head of Podcasts and Original Audio at Orion Publishing Ltd. It's the first role of its kind in publishing as she works solely on original content not audiobooks. Her role is to explore any and all audio opportunities with existing authors or potential future authors with a view to reaching new audiences, building author profiles and monetising audio beyond the audiobook.
Projects include:
'Making the Change' with The Speakmans - a podcast with ITV's This Morning therapy couple whose books we publish at Orion.
A short series with Cambridge geneticist Giles Yeo called 'Giles Yeo Chews the Fat' about the science of food and calories.
The hit BBC Sounds podcast 'Tony Bellew is Angry' with the ex-Heavyweight champion boxer.
And she currently has several series in production and development.
Alice joined Orion from the production company Wisebuddah (now called LIsten) where she was the executive producer overseeing all their speech content, pitching and creating documentaries and series for the likes of the BBC and Audible. Before that she was a documentary producer for BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra for many years pitching and producing docs on an incredibly wide range of subjects from music scenes and bands to things like Scientology, climate change and sexual health. She has also worked at BBC Radio 4 as an innovation producer in the Documentary Unit and with their arts unit in Bristol. Random highlights from her career include interviewing former US Vice President Al Gore, being hugged by the actor Danny Devito at Coachella Music Festival and making a radio show with Will Smith. Alice will be hosting the Pod to Book workshop where you can find out how to turn your podcast into a book.
